Tabla Tapestry 02

3,100.00

Tabla Tapestry 01 and 02 are handcrafted by Seema Lisa Pandya made from used 'tabla pudis' (the skins of the Indian classical tabla drum) donated by tabla schools and professional tabla percussionists. Each round 'pudi' has had hundreds of hours of concentrated energetic rhythmic practice and meditative touch by musicians until the skin is no longer usable. "I was once a former student learning to play the tablas." says Seema. "When I hear the sound of the tabla (especially the deeper bhya drum) and the different rhythmic patterns indicative to classical Indian music, I experience these sounds visually as a rhythmical push-pull / inhale-exhale balance that is a fundamental building block of natural forms. I have woven these rhythmical instrument parts together to represent the primordial form of sound as I experience it". Tabla Tapestry 01 and 02 have been displayed during several concerts presented by the Brooklyn Raga Massive with world renowned accomplished musicians preforming with these pieces as a backdrop behind the performance.

Tabla Tapestry 01 and 02 can either be displayed as as set together as shown in the photos or individually hung in the form of an anchor.  If you are interested in purchasing this one of a kind unique piece of art, please contact Seema Lisa Pandya directly to arrange for shipping and installation. seema@seemalisapandya.com 720-436-5099
